R&D Mechanical Engineer, Entrance Automation
Role Purpose:
Reporting to the R&D Manager of the Entrance Automation (EA) division based in Singapore, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development of industrial and mechanical design for photoelectric and radar sensors, Support production with ongoing issues and the maintenance of existing product portfolio.
Major Accountabilities:
- Involved in Conceptual mechanical and industrial design and creation of mechanical drawings/documentation
- Work closely with various stakeholders:
- Electronic/ layout/ optical design engineers to incorporate all requirements into design
- Production and QA teams to create the assembly concept manufacturing concept and quality concept
- Procurement team to achieve design to cost targets
- Liaise with (external) tool maker during tool ordering process
- Prototyping and design verification
- Part qualification, first article report
- Creation of necessary production documentation (e.g. assembly drawings)
- Consolidate all mechanical and environmental test requirements
- Support of evaluation prototype and pilot run, support the design, review and qualification of production fixtures
- Support of production during mass production
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor / Master / PHD degree in mechanical Engineering or product design
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in related field/ industry with business-fluent English capability (written and spoken)
- Good knowledge of plastic parts design and knowledgeable in the technology of joining of plastic parts
- Proficient user of Pro-E/Catia software and well-versed with FE simulation
- Knowledge of heat sink/heat dissipation simulation tools is a plus
- Knowledge of material science (polymers) is an advantage as well as experience in Radome design is a plus
- Able to work independently as well as in a team
- Self-motivated with great initiative and ability to work well under pressure
- Customer and Quality-focused with a good problem-solving mindset
